The research team of Madeira Life is composed of researchers and consultants from Madeira-ITI, ZON Madeira, Madeira Tecnopolo, and Carnegie Mellon University. Ken Keane, Mayur Karnik, and Roberto Sousa are currently full-time employed by Tecnopolo for this project.

| Ken graduated from the Interactive Media program at University of Limerick, Ireland in 2003, where he studied various aspects of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), Interaction Design, and Multimedia Design. Ken spent time employed as a Web Designer and as a freelance Graphic/web designer and obtained knowledge of design and evaluation of Computer-user support, user interface design, and human factors evaluations of computer systems along with knowledge in HTML, PHP scripting language for web applications. He went on to teach in the Visual Communications program at Raffles Design Institute, Guangzhou, China. In 2007 he moved to New Zealand and taught Graphic Communication at the Eastern Institute of Technology, Napier, Hawkes Bay. There he obtained skills and qualifications in Adult Learning, Teaching practice, Theories of Learning, & Assessments and Evaluation. Originally having come from a Fine Art Printmaking background, he has a strong interest in exploring both traditional and digital arenas. |
Mayur Karnik has 6 years of experience in user experience design spanning wide areas such as websites, CD ROMs, application UI, portable media players, mobile phones, televisions, digital photo frames and home appliances. He graduated from the National Institute of Design, India with a Post Graduate Degree in Communication Design (User Interface Design). He has worked with MNCs such as Hewlett Packard Labs and Philips Design in the areas of interaction design, visual design and user research, besides 2 years with Living Media (India Today) as an Advertising Executive after completing his MBA (Marketing). |
Roberto Sousa completed his BSc. in 2007 at Software Engineering at the Department of Mathematics and Engineering at the University of Madeira during which he gained experience in a multitude of platforms and in software engineering development processes. He received his Master of Science degree in 2009 also in Software Engineering at the Department of Mathematics and Engineering at the University of Madeira where he gained interest in mobile development that was reflected in his master’s project Glaze: A Visualization Framework for Mobile Devices. |
